Our Process

How is commercial mushroom spawn made?

  1. Raw material quality controls

    Every raw material, pure mushroom cultures, and substrate is tested against the industry’s highest standards.

  2. Substrate preparation

    Substrates are cooked and sterilized for contaminant-free spawn.

  3. Inoculation

    Pure mushroom culture comes out of liquid nitrogen storage, gets introduced into sterilized substrate, and bagged for production.

  4. Incubation

    Bagged spawn is carefully stored, fully colonized, and cooled.

  5. Inspection and testing

    Randomized contaminant testing and visual inspection of every bag before packing and shipping.

Spawn Carrier Options

Every strain is available on three substrate options plus PAC, our premium casing spawn.

Millet is the traditional grain carrier. Exxpress is our full-synthetic, grain-free option. Onyxx is a hybrid combining synthetic speed with grain nutrition. PAC promotes even pinning and works with all Amycel strains.
